On the other hand, we also grow other banana varieties for landscaping and decorative purposes. All bananas, edible or otherwise, belong to the Musa botanical family, and these (above and below) are no exception. They're maintenance-free and just fluorish on their own. It's very easy to just cut the attractively-colored blossoms and include it in a tropical arrangement.
They also multiply fast. Do you know the exact name of your ornamental banana?
ReplyDeleteI noticed your pink above has fruits, i wonder if they can be eaten too or full of seeds. I've seen a few of those but this is the first time with fruits. Other pink ornamental bananas are drooping.
ReplyDeleteHi Solitude, I think it's Musa coccinea. Yep, they're quick growers especially during the rainy season.
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea, I never really bothered to peel off one of the tiny bananas of these varieties. I doubt if there's any flesh inside? But we also have plenty of wild bananas, "butuan" they are called, which as the name implies, are ful of seeds.
